A warm, welcoming headshot can open doors, even if those doors are attached to a Zoom meeting.

That question is tricky, because it’s sort of like asking, “How much is a car?” I mean, all cars have an engine and tires and wheels, and while most will get you where you need to go, not all cars are alike; they come in a wide range of prices. And just as there is no right or wrong car price, there is no “correct” headshot price.

To help gauge that value, ask yourself one important question:
What am I hoping to accomplish with this headshot?
If it’s just a temporary image, like a photo for a badge or ID, it’s not really that important. Its use is simply to confirm identity, and so it’s not that big of a deal if that headshot is less than stellar. I don’t know a whole lot of people who really like their driver’s license photos, but then, they don’t need to. It’s just an ID.
But if the images represents you-if it stands in your stead as who you are, then that headshot isn’t really a headshot—-it’s a logo. YOUR logo. It is, again, that first impression and you know what they say about first impressions, right? Namely, you never get a second chance to make a good one.
