Selfless Seniors-Doing Good

As I write this entry, Frank is at Manzano High School giving a press conference with APS and 26 well-deserving high school seniors. For the past year, we have worked with Monica Armenta and Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation, to bring a program called Selfless Seniors to life. We wanted to design a program that gives kudos to kids who “do good” on a regular basis; kids who make a difference in the lives of others but have never been acknowledged for their contribution.

It is has been an incredible journey.

We photographed over 26 seniors-2 from each high school, and their images along with a short bio will be on display all over town during the year. I was floored when I heard some of their stories. They have risen above their circumstances with nothing but determination and it is a joy to see. One of the Selfless Senior girls commented to Monica, “You know, I never thought anything like this would happen to me. I’ve tried all my life to be good and do the right thing and no one has ever recognized it. “ Wow.

This is going to be an annual event and Frank and I are thrilled and honored to be a part of it. I think he could do without speaking at the press conferences, though. As Frank says, “I am much more comfortable behind the camera.” He wouldn’t miss it, though.

The displays will be appearing all over town, and if you’re fortunate enough to know one of these Selfless Seniors, thank them for being amazing! They are an inspiration to all of us!
