Come on, Cottonwoods…Just ONE More: albuquerque family photographer

Every year, October delights us with the colors of Fall. But because we have busy lives and aren’t alway thinking ahead, people don’t always think about a Fall portrait until the colors are at their peak and appointments are few and far between. For that reason, every year, I hold my breath and wish the warm weather to last as long as possible. When we reach the end of October and into November, it’s always a race against time to get as many clients photographed against our brilliant Cottonwoods before the first good freeze forces the trees to drop their leaves.

I photographed Kevin and Tracy’s family last night and I have to admit that as I drove to meet them, I was a little nervous about not only the weather, but what the bosque would look like when we arrived. A storm was pushing in from the northwest and, having been in the bosque just a couple days earlier, I knew how quickly we were losing color.

And although the clouds hung over the Sandias, and the western sky was dark, the light was still beautiful, as was the final bit of yellow in the Bosque.

Once again, dear Cottonwoods, you did us proud. Thanks for another great year!
