Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups: Day 8 of Thankfulness: albuquerque photographer

I’m not a connoisseur of fine wine; I couldn’t tell you the difference between a cabernet and a chardonnay;I don’t know how to tell if a cantaloupe is ripe, and don’t even get me started on apples. I know there are an endless variety but to my mind there are only two kinds: red or green.

But the one thing I DO know about is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.

The RPBC is my favorite candy and I need one like I need another hole in my head. They are packed with sugar and fat…and that’s probably what makes them so darn delicious. It was a genius who thought of combining those two flavors together: “Two great tastes that taste great together-Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.” (I actually sang the jingle from the old commercial as I typed that.) But buying one is usually a gamble, as there is no way to tell the freshness state of a RPBC.  But I can tell you, as a long time connoisseur of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup,  that the best time to buy them is during the holidays. If they are in the shape of a pumpkin, tree or egg, odds are good you’ve got a fresh one.

And sure, there have been the times when I’ve opened a tree shaped RPBC and found it to be a little stale. And yes, of course, I still ate it.

This was left over from Halloween. It was a little old. I still took great pleasure in eating it. Thankfulness has no expiration date.
